I know I'm a bit outdated! Anyhow, the film starred one of my favorite screen actresses, Kristin Kreuk from the famous Smallville. I never thought she would do an action film since she got a not-so-tough looks. I guess I just underestimated her. She gave justice to her role.

Anyway, the film was an adaptation of the famous computer game back in the 90's. I remember playing this when I was still in my pre-adolescent years and I used to play Chun Li's character always because of her hair! LOL...

PLOT: (from Wikipedia)

As a child, Chun-Li moves from San Francisco to Hong Kong with her family. There, along with piano, she learns Wushu from her father, Xiang, a well connected businessman. One night, her home is attacked by Bison and his henchman Balrog. Chun Li's father fights them off until Balrog grabs ahold of a young Chun Li, forcing him to surrender.
Years later, Chun-Li grows up and becomes a talented concert pianist. At the end of one of her concerts, she receives a scroll written in ancient Chinese text. On her way home, she sees a mysterious homeless man getting assaulted by street thugs. After the thugs leave, Chun Li tends to him and notices a spiderweb tattoo on his hand. Meanwhile, Xiang is shown working for Bison as a prisoner, only allowed to view pictures of his grown up daughter. Back home, Chun Li's mother finally loses her battle to cancer as Chun Li and her servants mourn her loss at a funeral.

Elsewhere, Nash and Maya investigate the murder of several heads of criminal syndicate families in Bangkok. Chun Li on the side is meeting with a wise old lady in town who studies the scroll and tells her to find a man named Gen in Bangkok, revealing to her an image of the same spiderweb she saw tattooed on the homeless man's hand. With a new goal in mind, Chun Li leaves her home and heads to Bangkok. After days of searching for Gen without any luck, she sees a man being assaulted in an alley by thugs. Chun Li comes to his rescue and fights them. After a long battle she finishes them off and collapses in exhaustion. There, we see Gen pick her up to take her to his home.

Gen tells Chun-Li that he knows how to find her father and that Bison has him, but that she also needs anger management. In response, she goes to an internet cafe to find out more about Bison, who is now holding the families of property owners hostage in order to force them to sign their property over to him. Upon leaving, one of the owners is asked to hand over the rights to a docking harbor, allowing the shipment of the "White Rose". Chun Li overhears this. Meanwhile at Interpol, Nash figures out that Bison's headquarters are right across the street from the Police Station.

Later that night, Cantana, one of Bison's secretaries, goes to a nightclub. Chun Li spies on her and notices her eyeing the girls in the club. Chun Li moves in and seductively dances with her before casually walking away into the bathroom. Cantana follows her and locks the bathroom door. Chun Li beats Cantana until Cantana reveals the location of the White Rose. Cantana's bodyguards come back and Chun Li escapes after fighting them off. Soon after, Bison kills Cantana.

We are then told of Bison's origins. He is the son of Irish missionaries. He grew up an orphan having to steal fish from people in Thailand. In order to lose his conscience, he forced his daughter out of the womb of his wife prematurely. This transferred his conscience into her, thus Bison no longer had/has a conscience. Back at Gen's home, Bison's henchmen come after Gen and Chun Li. Gen fights them off until Balrog blows up his house with a RPG. With Gen gone and nowhere to be found, Chun Li runs off. She is then attacked by Vega, who she defeats soundly and hangs upside down over the side of a building.

Chun Li then heads to the harbor and interrogates an employee into telling her the arrival time of the White Rose. Later that night, this turns out to be a trap as several Shadaloo soldiers capture her. Chun Li is then taken back to Shadaloo headquarters and is reunited with her father. Bison tells her that Xiang outlived his usefulness and breaks his neck, killing him. Bison and Balrog leave Chun Li to the henchman to finish off. Chun Li however escapes when they try to swing her around from the ceiling like a pinata. As she runs away, she is shot in the arm by Balrog. Before Balrog could recapture her, the crowd begins throwing durians at him. This scares Balrog as he drives off in his Mercedes-Benz. Chun Li meanwhile, is rescued again by Gen, who narrowly escaped death and survived the explosion in his house.

Chun Li approaches Nash and tells him she needs backup to take down Bison. Nash and Maya oblige as Chun Li approaches the dock employee who set her up last time. The employee tells her that he was forced into deceiving her and tells her the real arrival time. Chun Li doubts him at first, but he points to the white board at the arrival time, proving that it is true. At the dock later that night, Interpol agents engage in a shootout with Shadaloo soldiers. On a ship, Chun Li finds a girl asking where her father is. Meanwhile, Gen fights Balrog and kills him by stabbing him with a pipe spraying nitrogen. We later find out that the girl is Bison's daughter and her name is Rose, making her the White Rose. Bison takes her in and welcomes her warmly.

Chun Li then comes in and fights Bison. After a long battle, she hits him with a bamboo pole and drops sandbags on him, stunning him. She then charges up a Kikoken and shoots it at him, knocking him off the scaffolding they were fighting on, then jumping on his head and twisting it all the way around, breaking his neck and killing him.

Back home, Chun Li is settled down as Gen pays her a visit. He shows her an ad for a Street Fighter tournament, telling her about a Japanese fighter named Ryu. Chun Li declines, saying that she's home for now.

I'll give this movie 9/10 rating. They could have shown other famous characters like Ryu, Ken, Sagat, etc... Another thing, does Chun Li has a lovelife? As I went on watching the film, I thought she & Charlie would be an item. Hahahaha...

Marley & Me

Just last month, I have downloaded a copy of the movie, "Marley & Me". The copy sucks but it did not stop me to watch the film. I like this movie because it was wholesome...a family-oriented one. Though I am afraid of dogs since I was a kid, they are still so adorable to look at.

Marley & Me is a story of a family with their Labrador retriever. It brought both laughter and tears as it was rolling. Marley (the dog) can be described as the world's worst dog. He is boisterous, and somewhat uncontrollable dog. He is strong, powerful, endlessly hungry, eager to be active, and often destructive of someone's property. Thanks to the technology of torrents! lol...

Enchanted is a one of those happily ever after movies made by Disney. Unlike the other Disney tales, this movie is unique because not all of the scenes are in the animation but also in the so-called real world. The story revolves with the soon-to-be princess named Giselle. She lived her entire life believing love can easily be get, not until she accidentally went to our real world where she met a mortal named Robert and his little daughter. Unknowingly, Giselle started to fall in love with Robert. Her views about life and love had totally changed while she stayed in the real and modern world.

Another thing I love in this movie is the musical! I just love the songs especially the one sang at the opening of the movie entitled, "True Love's Kiss" and "That's How You Know".

My favorite scene in the movie:

Somewhere In Time

Recently, I have been intrigued with some old movies. I always hear from my friends that "Somewhere In Time" is a one-of-a-kind! I must watch it. So, I bought my own copy though it's on VCD format because it's cheaper. One thing I liked in this film was that Christopher Reeve's here. I have been a fan of his Superman films. The plot was well-described though I don't believe in time travel. Richard and Elise's love story made me feel loved then.

Anyway, I'll just post here a plot summary of the film taken from Wikipedia. I don't know who wrote this article so I can't give proper credit to the author but just Wikipedia.

Plot Summary:

The film begins in May 1972, when playwright Richard Collier is approached by an elderly woman who places a pocket watch in his hand while pleading with him to "come back to me." Eight years later, Richard stays at the Grand Hotel and becomes entranced by a strangely captivating photograph of a mysterious, beautiful young woman. With the assistance of Arthur Biehl, an old man who's been at the hotel since 1910, Richard discovers that she is Elise McKenna, a famous early 20th-century stage actress. Upon digging deeper, he learns that she was the aged woman who gave him the pocket watch eight years ago, but who subsequently died later that same evening.

Richard learns about auto-suggestive time travel from an old college professor of his. To accomplish this feat of self-hypnosis, one must remove all things from sight that are related to the current time. He is also warned that such a process would leave one very weak, perhaps dangerously so. Back in his hotel room, Richard tries to will himself into the year 1912 using tape-recorded suggestions only to fail for lack of real conviction. After a trip to the hotel's attic, Richard finds an old guest book from 1912 with his signature in it, and realizes that he will/did eventually succeed.

Richard again hypnotizes himself (without the benefit of a modern tape recorder) and allows his absolute faith in his eventual success to become the tipping point, or trigger for the journey back through time. He drifts off to sleep in 1980 and awakens to the sound of whinnying horses in the year 1912. Richard looks all over the hotel for Elise, even meeting Arthur as a little boy, but he has no luck finding her. Finally, Richard stumbles upon Elise walking by a tree near the lake. She seems to swoon slightly at the sight of him, but then suddenly asks him if he's the one. McKenna's manager, William Fawcett Robinson, abruptly intervenes and sends Richard away. Richard stubbornly continues to pursue Elise until she finally agrees to accompany him on a stroll throughout the surrounding idyllic landscape. Richard ultimately asks why Elise wondered aloud if he was the one and she replies that Robinson somehow knows that she will meet a man one day who will change her life forever. Richard then shows Elise the same pocket watch which she will give him 60 years hence.

Upon returning to the hotel, Elise invites Richard to her play. Richard attends the comedic farce and during intermission finds her posing formally for a photograph. Upon spotting Richard, Elise breaks into a radiant smile and veritably glows with soft affection. Just then the camera's flash goes off and forever captures that wondrous moment in time. We realize now that this picture is the same one which Richard will see 68 years later on a wall near the lobby at the selfsame Grand Hotel. He later receives a letter from Robinson asking to meet him immediately and saying that it is a matter of life and death. Robinson tricks Richard and has him tied up and thrown into the stables. Later, Robinson tells Elise that Richard has left her and isn't the one, but she replies that she doesn't believe him and he's wrong. Elise admits to Robinson that she loves Richard and that he will make her very happy. Dispirited, Robinson leaves her dressing room and reminds her that they leave within the hour.

Richard wakes up the next morning and escapes his constraints. He runs to Elise's room only to discover that her party has left. Richard then goes out to the hotel's capacious deck and begins giving in to despair, but presently perceives Elise calling his name and running towards him. They return to his room together and it is there that Elise becomes truly intimate with a man for the very first time in her life. Later that evening, she asks Richard to marry her and he readily accepts. She then tells him that the first thing she will do for him is buy him a new suit (the suit Richard has been wearing the entire time in 1912 is about ten to fifteen years out of style). Richard begins to show his true love what a wonderful suit it is because of its many pockets. He is alarmed when he reaches into one and finds a shiny new Lincoln penny that has the date of 1979 on it. This has the effect of wrenching him out of his hypnotically-induced time trip, and Richard feels himself rushing backwards from 1912 as though through a tunnel with Elise screaming his name in horror as he is pulled inexorably back to 1980.

Richard then wakes up in the same room he just left although now it is 68 years later. He is very weak, physically and emotionally exhausted from his trip through time and from the devastating unexpected return. He scrambles desperately back to his own suite and tries to hypnotise himself again without success. After wandering around the hotel property and sitting interminably at the places where he shared his innermost thoughts with Elise, Richard eventually retires to his room and remains there until discovered by Arthur who then calls for a doctor. Richard then sees himself drifting above his body, and he is drawn to a light shining through the nearby window framed with gently billowing white gauzy curtains. In the Light that lies between Earth and Eternity is Elise, waiting for him just as he remembered her and where they will remain together at last in a place beyond time itself.

* Hope you have enjoyed my featured movie.

Little Rascals

I saw this movie when I was a kid way back in 1994. This movie was based on an old kiddie play, called Our Gang. The characters were brought back to life in a modern world.

Although the setting is the present day, the characters remain much the same, down to their old-fashioned clothing and their membership in the "He-man Woman Haters Club." When Alfalfa starts to question his devotion to the club's principles after falling for the beautiful nine-year old Darla , the rest of the gang sets out to keep them apart. I love Alfalfa and Darla's puppy love here. Thus, I remembered a scene when Alfalfa sang "You Are So Beautiful" song to Darla on a boat. Do I got the correct song title? They're so cute!

Anyway, an attempt to win the grand prize in a go-cart race also came into play, providing opportunities for physical comedy. I wondered how these kids have grown now. I bet they're not active in the showbusiness today.

Here are some of the child actors in this movie:

Travis Tedford, Bug Hall, Brittany Ashton Holmes, Kevin Jamal Woods, Zachary Mabry

I also saw the famous Olsen twins here.
